Circulatory disorder (pAVK)

An extract of the brochure „The diabetic foot syndrome“ by Dr. med. Karl Zink

Circulatory disorder may cause complaints as well. Depending on the extent the patient laments pain in the muscles (thigh, calve, sole) while walking. The patient mostly stops walking (intermittent claudication).

Being in an advanced stage, you may also suffer from pain while relaxing. You are hardly able to walk anymore and at nighttime the leg is stretched out of the bed to ease the blood circulation.

Due to the damage of the nerves (the polyneuropathia) you often don´t feel the pain caused by the circulatory disorder and may move without suffering for a longer time.
